Kara is a Staff Attorney at Lambda Legal. Ingelhart has played an instrumental role in advancing the rights of LGBTQ and people living with HIV people under federal civil rights laws. In her practice, she has served as counsel in Lambda Legal’s litigation to ensure access to accurate birth certificates for transgender people in every state across the nation, achieving victories in Ray v. Himes (S.D. Ohio), in Kansas in Foster v. Anderson (D. Kansas), F.V. v. Barron (D. Idaho), and Arroyo v. Rossello (D. P.R.). In addition to her work as a litigator, Ingelhart has contributed to federal and state legislative and policy efforts concerning the inclusion of protections for LGBTQ people and people living with HIV who are involved in the criminal legal system. Kara has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a law degree from The University of Chicago Law School.
