Hon. Richard Tsai is a New York City Civil Court Judge, currently sitting in Manhattan Civil Court. He was elected to Civil Court in 2017, and was temporarily assigned to Manhattan Criminal Court. Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Tsai was a court attorney for judges at the trial and appellate level. Judge Tsai was also a founding member of the Richard C. Failla LGBTQ Commission and chaired the committee recommending revisions to the court officers’ manual. He graduated from Cornell Law School and the Sorbonne in Paris, and he is a first-generation immigrant. Richard’s pronouns are he, him.
