Gregory O. Yorgey-Girdy was recently as elected as the first openly gay Black judge for the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania. Previously, he was an entrepreneur, community leader, and an attorney with nearly two decades of experience in compliance, ethics, professional responsibility, and civil litigation. In 2018, Gregory completed his Master of Business Administration with a focus on strategic management from Temple University Fox School of Business. Prior to obtaining his MBA, Gregory attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Psychology. Thereafter, he served as manager for the Crime Victims’ Compensation Unit at Texas Attorney General’s Office. The experience he gained in that role inspired him to pursue a career in law. He then went on to obtain a Juris Doctor degree from Widener University Delaware Law School and was admitted to the bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He maintains an active agenda of philanthropic undertakings, which include, board member of Philadelphia Family Pride (PFP), and President of the Philadelphia Texas Exes (University of Texas Alumni Association).
