Shéár Avory is a social justice advocate living in New York City 🍕 🗽 🚇 committed to the advancement of social, economic, racial, gender, and disability justice and the empowerment of young people. Since the age of thirteen, Shéár has been a leading voice of youth activism through national participation in movements for social justice. They’re a Policy Associate at the Office of the New York City Public Advocate and previously served as the 2018 Biden Fellow for LGBTQ Equality at the Biden Foundation.
Since moving to New York City at the age of eighteen, they’ve been a Community Portrait Research Analyst of the What’s Your Issue? National LGBTQ Youth Survey in fellowship with the Public Science Project of the Graduate Center at the City University of New York – authoring chapters in the Journal of Counseling Psychology and other international research publications in addition to archiving the lived experiences of 6,000+ young people as powerful narratives to inform policies impacting the lives and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ youth.
