This panel will address how recognition of marriage, non-marital legal relationships, and non-biological parentage by Social Security and Medicare can be integrated with your estate and life planning consultations. Both the Social Security Administration and Medicare have responded to transgender citizens in relationship recognition and treatment. The Federal Office of Personnel Management has also produced online materials helpful to LGBT clients who are employed or retired. Panelists will highlight the Office of Personnel Management’s Benefits for LGBT federal employees and annuitants.
