Emily Walpole recently graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. There, she was a board member of the Lambda Law Alliance student group for her first and second years. During her second year, she became a member of the LGBT Bar Association’s Law Student Congress, serving as secretary. The following year, she took over as a Co-Chair of the Law Student Congress, a position which she left in May of this year. Originally from rural North Carolina, Emily came to the law by the long way around, working in the theatre while holding side jobs in demolitions, furniture sales, fast food, and carpentry. She is grateful to the community members at UVA who helped her feel at home in law school. She also thanks her friends at the LGBT Bar Association who helped her get to where she is today. After taking the bar exam this fall, she will begin work in New York with the Labor and Employment practice group of Morgan Lewis & Bockius, LLP.
