Lina G. Del Plato (she/her) is a staff attorney at The Legal Aid Society Juvenile Rights Practice (JRP) since 2006 where she represents children who are the subject of neglect and abuse proceedings. The daughter of immigrants, and the first in her family to complete a law degree, she is also a member of the ALAA LGBTQ+ caucus and identifies as LGTBQ+. She works on an interdisciplinary team in the Brooklyn Office of JRP, which includes social workers and paralegals, to advocate for the children’s wishes. She was part of the Safe Families Project in the Bronx Office of JRP, which specializes in domestic violence neglect cases. Prior to her work at JRP, she was a staff attorney at various Legal Services of New York locations, where she represented domestic violence victims in family court and matrimonial proceedings, as well as Housing, Social Security and welfare law. She graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 2000 and was admitted to practice in New York State in 2001. She is also admitted to practice in the Eastern District of New York.
