The Health Not Prisons Collective (HNP) is an intersectional national initiative launched in 2020 by the Counter Narrative Project, Positive Women’s Network – USA, Sero Project, Transgender Law Center, and the U.S. Caucus of People Living with HIV — longtime collaborators led by and accountable to communities most affected by HIV criminalization in the United States. This panel discussion will include an overview of the current address HNP’s work on HIV decriminalization efforts at the state and federal level, what meaningful involvement of people living with HIV looks like and can be and how this work is critical to push back against the practice of criminalization as public health generally.
