Recent credits include Oscar and Grammy Award Winning Summer of Soul, American Utopia and Spring Awakening on HBO, Conversations with a Killer and Crime Scene on Netflix, Hamilton on Disney+, The Me You Can’t See on Apple+, Lincoln and Roosevelt on History, and the Illuminarium exhibitions in Atlanta and Las Vegas. Leading a legal & business affairs department covering 30+ active productions, Beekman has quickly built a reputation in the industry as a bright, creative, solutions-oriented lawyer, guiding Radical through the unforeseen complexities of the Covid-19 pandemic and providing crucial legal oversight for Radical’s many socially conscious investigative and boundary-pushing projects. With a unique background in litigation, risk management, and compliance at a top international law firm, Beekman led Radical’s response to the myriad of novel obstacles faced by production companies over the past two years, and has played an integral role in establishing RadicalMedia as an industry-leading in-house legal shop for complex production and content issues, clearance review and litigation risk mitigation, and IP counseling. Under Beekman’s leadership, Radical successfully completed several large, high-profile productions, including a global mental health series Executive Produced by Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry, growing the company’s reputation as one of the industry’s most innovative and prolific companies. In his spare time — when he’s able to find some — Beekman is proud to advise and mentor several underrepresented and emerging LGBTQ and BIPOC artists and filmmakers in the social impact entertainment space through his boutique practice, Beekman Law PLLC.
