There is no doubt that Justice Kennedy has been the Supreme Court’s conservative champion of LGBTQ+ rights. With his retirement and Justice Ginsburg’s death, the Court has taken a decidedly rightward tilt. What does this mean for LGBTQ+ rights? As we approach the 35th anniversary of the hideous and hurtful Bowers decision, it is fair to ask if we might return to those dark days. The panel will look at the Kennedy-era LGBTQ+ opinions along with Bowers and discuss their current vitality.
