Lexi Purich Howard is an attorney at the California Department of Water Resources, Office of the General Counsel. Before that, she served as attorney at the California Secretary of State and was previously in private practice as a real estate and business attorney. Prior to that (during and after law school), Lexi was a public policy advocate and lobbyist, representing businesses and trade associations, with a focus on real estate, business, and the judiciary. For nearly twenty-six years before that, Lexi was a title insurance and settlement services (escrow) provider for a national title insurance and financial services firm.

Lexi also serves as a mentor to law students as well as to students in Sacramento’s public schools, and as an advisory committee member and mentor at the Law & Public Policy Academy at C.K. McClatchy High School.
Why I serve: I serve because people, and justice, and the rule of law all matter; because LGBTQIA+ law students, lawyers, judicial officers, and all who are vulnerable need to know that we will stand with them, stand in for them, and stand up for them. I serve because I know that while some of this work can be done quietly, much of it requires diverse voices showing up and refusing to capitulate to tyranny, and I’m here for that. I serve because serving gives me joy.
