Callie Butcher (she/her) is a Dallas-based attorney, community leader, and vocal advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. At her firm, Butcher Legal Group PLLC, Callie currently focuses her practice on LGBTQ+ Rights and Public Policy. She has been recognized in the 2021 through 2025 editions of The Best Lawyers as a “Ones to Watch in America” and “Women In The Law: Ones To Watch.” Callie was named as one of D Magazine’s Best Lawyers Under 40 in 2024, and she was named a 2022 “Top Women Lawyer” by the Texas Diversity Council.
Callie is a Past President of the Dallas LGBT Bar Association and was the first openly transgender person to serve on the board of the Dallas Bar Association. When not working, Callie volunteers with local and national LGBTQ+ organizations, including the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association, where she serves on the Board and as Membership Chair; Lambda Legal, where she serves on its National Board and has served as Co-Chair of Lambda Legal’s annual Landmark Dinner for the past 3 years; the LGBTQ Law Section for the State Bar of Texas, where she serves as a member of the leadership council; and she is a founding member and Secretary of the Pride Museum of Texas. Callie regularly speaks at conferences, events, and organizational meetings across the country on LGBTQ+ legal issues (such as Developments in Appellate and Supreme Court Jurisprudence, State Laws and Legislative Policy, Identity Documents, First Amendment/Religious Freedom, and Public Accommodations), DEI initiatives, and career development. In her free time, Callie enjoys spending time with her partner and two children.
