Rebekah T. Scherr (they/them) is a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where they advise U.S. and multinational clients on a range of antitrust and competition issues, with an emphasis on merger notification compliance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act and its global equivalents. Rebekah also counsels clients in various industries with respect to general compliance with antitrust laws.
Beyond the billable hour, Rebekah’s focus is on developing and retaining mid-level associates in BigLaw and beyond. At their prior firm, Rebekah was co-chair of the Pride@Work Network, and sat on the firm’s Inclusion Task Force. Rebekah also co-founded “WTNB,” a network for Women, Trans, and Non-Binary identified associates. Prior to and during their board service, Rebekah led the effort to create the New Lawyers Division (“NLD”) at the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association through the Membership Committee of the Bar. Additionally, Rebekah frequently counsels associates, firms, and organizations on inclusive fertility and parental leave benefits.
Rebekah has advocated for LGBTQ+ equality since founding their high school’s Gay-Straight Alliance in North Carolina, to creating the first Transgender Name Change Clinic at the University of North Carolina School of Law, to now advocating with and for BigLaw and corporate leadership to expand policies for equity and inclusion across underrepresented and intersecting identities, speaking on panels with major organizations, and mentoring associates one-on-one and in groups to help find their place in an often overwhelming industry.
