    Supporting Trans Employees

    Supporting Trans Employees
    June 6, 2022

    Q: Is your Gender-Inclusive Workplace Policy up-to-date?

A: Over the past decade, it has been heartening to see the increasing number of workplaces that have adopted policies to support people undergoing gender transition in the workplace. Historically labeled, “Transition Guidelines” or “Transgender Policies,” these “Gender-Inclusive Workplace Policies” are widely adopted by legal employers to support transgender and nonbinary people in the workplace, as evidenced by Question 2 of our 2021 DEI Index.

If your workplace hasn’t updated such a policy in the last few years, you might want to consider doing so. To attract and retain trans and nonbinary talent, you must be sure to have the most cutting-edge language regarding nondiscrimination, privacy, leave, dress codes, names & pronouns, restroom & locker room access, and the full range of competitive, inclusive benefits that are offered on the market.

Our DEI Consulting Practice is here to help you discreetly and effectively become a leader in trans workplace inclusion. We work closely with law firms, law schools, and companies that are striving to attract and retain transgender and nonbinary talent. We are shifting the legal industry one workplace at a time. Year-round consulting is available.
