The Professional Development Office provides students with the opportunity to apply for funding to attend career fairs. Several students have used this funding to attend the Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair.
Pitt Law provides diversity and inclusion training, workshops and programs throughout the year. As part of new student orientation, our first years participate in mandatory diversity and inclusion training that includes activities on microaggressions, implicit bias, and community building. LGBTQ+ Allies training is provided each year for faculty and staff. Students, faculty, and staff are able to participate in various optional trainings that occur throughout the year focusing on topics such as microaggressions, implicit bias, intergroup dialogue, and cultural awareness.

Yes
Our OUTLaw group is active and many staff and faculty who don’t necessarily identify as LGBTQ are strong allies. The director of Equity and Inclusive Excellence as well as my position as Assistant Director are newly created positions to address issues relating to underrepresented and minoritized groups including members of the LGBTQ community and we look forward to improving the law school efforts in this space.
