We have an active OUTlaw student group and SBA Diversity and Inclusion group. We host speakers and events each year on LGBTQ issues and OUTlaw sponsors events and fundraising for LGBTQ organizations each year. We sponsor students to attend the LGBTQ Bar conference and Fairness WV Conference each year. We host implicit bias and anti harassment training for all members of our community each year. We have an active D&I faculty/staff committee who drafts a strategic plan and annual plan and who hosts Safe Zone and other training and activities for everyone in our community. We have a supportive LGBTQ Center on campus and mental health and health services for LGBTQ students on campus as well.
Our Enrollment Management office reaches out to LBGTQ+ student organizations at the various undergraduate universities where we recruit, both in WV and around the country. Students from our OUTlaw group work with the office to recruit and welcome prospective students and OUTlaw works with our LGBTQ Center on campus to recruit and welcome LGBTQ students. WVU also hosts a Diversity and Inclusion Day each year as a separate part of our recruiting efforts to reach underrepresented students, including LGBTQ students.
