We offer special scholarships for LGBTQ students. We target students through the LSAC data we are provided.
On our applications the following self-identifying options are available:
-Do you identify as gay, bisexual, or transgender? Yes or No
-Do you have a preferred gender pronoun? Yes or No
-If so, what is your preferred gender pronoun?
There is a section in the application where students can write in their preferred name.
The Michael A. Zamperini/W. Clay Burchell Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a gay or lesbian law student who is beginning his or her final fall semester. This scholarship is awarded based on overall academic achievement and academic performance in the Writing & Research courses. An essay is required with the application.
We recruit through affinity bar groups, locally and nationally.
We treat married spouses the same, regardless of gender. Leave policies apply to all genders and exams apply to all gender gender identities. Assisted reproductive benefits are not covered under GGU’s plans. Mammograms, prostate exams and hysterectomies are covered for members of all gender identities.
Students are provided 2 free sessions of counseling through Meta Health – a teletherapy provider.
We have 4 single-occupancy unisex bathrooms in the facility, and they are fully ADA compliant. The signage currently reflects the “unisex & disabled” symbol, which is soon to be changed to “all-gender” signage to better identify each bathroom. Given the relatively small size of the facility, other than for architectural floors plans, there are no building maps that are distributed.
Sexual Orientation and the Law, Law and Gender, and International and Comparative LGBTQ+ Constitutional Issues

The Interim Dean is openly gay. We provide funding for speakers and conferences related to LGBTQ issues. GGU School of Law was the institutional recipient of the AALS 2021 LGBTQ+ Inclusive Excellence Award.
