Our diversity recruitment efforts are included in our recruitment efforts more generally. We conduct broad searches of qualified candidates and are careful to ensure balance and diversity of many types in our selections of interview pools and our short lists of potential new faculty. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, color, disability, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or protected veteran status.

There is one single stall restroom in the main law school building inside the law library. It is marked with a sign that says “all gender.” It is not publicized to the general public or on outward facing platforms like websites or building maps, as it is located in a staff area of the library. Students are informed of its existence at orientation and in the student handbook. It is available to any student who needs it. Other ancillary law buildings have single stall bathrooms as well, and an upcoming building project will convert the ground-floor restroom into an all-gender restroom.

If your law school is maintaining gender-segregated (i.e., "Women's Restroom" and "Men's Restroom") restroom stalls, does it have a policy applicable to those facilities which ensures that transgender/nonbinary students/staff/administrators/faculty, as well as anyone who does not meet gender stereotypes, have access to facilities that match their gender identity?

The LGBTQ+ Project at the IU Maurer School of Law provides pro bono legal research and advocacy services to Indiana LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations and LGBTQ+ Hoosiers. The Project engages law students, attorneys, scholars, and LGBTQ+ advocates to address the unmet legal needs of Indiana’s LGBTQ+ community and support equality efforts of Indiana LGBTQ+ organizations.
